Robert Green

Founder

Robert Green’s fondness for the Sonoma wine region started nearly two decades ago on frequent visits. The couple was seeking not just the casual, elegant lifestyle, but also, searching for business interests. Robert began his quest to find the perfect piece of land and vineyard several years prior to committing to Healdsburg, CA. Over a five year period, starting in 2000, Robert surveyed 24 different sites in Sonoma and Napa Counties. His current 12-acre vineyard sits on 258 acres of the most beautiful oak woodlands. Robert states, “We were attracted the site for two reasons; it is situated in the appellation wine region of Alexander Valley and the site offered us the land necessary to build a luxury hotel”. As well as being the founder of Robert Green Vineyards, he is also President and Chief Executive Officer of The Robert Green Company, a commercial real estate development firm founded more than 15 years ago.

Alexa Mietz

Consulting Winemaker

Alexa Mietz has been involved in the wine business for many years. Her parents, Keith and Nancy Mietz of Mietz Cellars, were our winemakers. Mietz Cellars handled the procurement, processing, and storage of all of our wine from 2014 through 2020. Alexa had a hand in all of this. When Keith and Nancy retired in 2021 closing Mietz Cellars, we were thankfully able to keep Alexa on our team as our Consulting Winemaker. She has been an integral part of our operation for almost a decade, and is our agent in the field when it comes to vinicultural operations. Her experience with winemaking is the reason behind the success of our recent vintages. She handles the full fermentation and storage process and helps source grapes and vendors for all necessary winemaking products and services.

Warren Green

Director of Operations

Warren Green, Robert’s third son, has witnessed the creation of this family winery since his childhood. After graduating from Fordham University in 2022, he returned to San Diego to join in the business. His role as Director of Operations at Robert Green Vineyards involves overseeing the purchase and processing of grapes, developing the vineyard’s web presence, creating marketing material, and coordinating with the compliance and accounting teams. Excited about this new opportunity, Warren is exploring each facet of the wine industry with great curiosity and keen insight. From studying the history of viniculture in California, to exploring wine regions across the United States and Mexico, he hopes to continue to expand his understanding of the industry so that he is more aptly prepared to expand the business.
